One Dish Chicken Recipes And Food Safety

By Enid Hinton

When it comes to recipes which include chicken or fish, it is essential to assure that all bones have been removed before combining the foods. In the case of a dish where the poultry is left on the bone, it is often advised that parents remove the meat from the bone before serving the child. Another is to avoid salmonella poisoning by never leaving food out on the counter to sit whether raw, or cooked.

When cooking any food which could contain bones, it is important to assure all bones have been removed from combining the ingredients into a casserole, or other dish. Otherwise, if a bone were to slip through, the romance could likely turn to disaster with the couple ending up at the emergency room. To avoid this type situation, simply pull the meat off the bone by hand, or better yet by boneless cuts of meat, poultry and seafood.

A clay pot, crock pot, oven or grill are often the preferred cooking methods for poultry. Whether a home or professional check desires to remove the bones is a personal decision. Though, if one does not and serves the meal to someone who becomes choked on a bone, then the individual may need medical attention, not to mention the potential of a lawsuit if the individual was eating at a restaurant at the time.

An oven on the other hand can be used for a number of different style dishes. Casseroles, pastas and other foods can make for a great meal. One of the most uncommon of chicken dishes is that of chili, though it has proven to be quite tasty to a number of individuals. As this version has recently made an appearance on at least one television cooking show, there is no doubt it will become more popular with home and professional in the future.

Stuffed breasts in some cases could be considered a combined dinner. Although, for some the food may be too heavy. While others may not find a simple breast and stuffing a full meal. Regardless, it is up to the chef in each case to decide what constitutes a one dish meal.

There are some health concerns whether preparing and cooking pork, poultry, seafood, or other meats. First, it is essential that all these food items remain refrigerated until cooking time. Second, whether cooked or raw, it is never good to leave meat, poultry or seafood sitting out for long periods. Lastly, it is important to wash hands before and immediately after preparing a meal.

Marinades can be used to flavor a number of different foods. Some marinades are dry, while others are wet. Depending on the cooking style, one may work better than the other. Regardless, when using any type of marinade it is important that the marinade be refrigerated during the process, generally 4-6 hours is recommended for poultry.

There are several pre-made marinades, both wet and dry. Although, a good universal marinade is a combination of dark beer, soy sauce and ginger. It is generally recommended that poultry marinade for at least 4-6 hours, again in the refrigerator. Depending on cooking style, a dry or wet marinade may work best. Though, when broiling foods in the oven, it is often advised that only dry rubs be used.

Recipes can now be found on a number of food oriented websites. The FoodNetwork and Food TV websites also host all recipes shown on various programming. While these are good, bookstores and libraries often host a variety of books with recipes whether based in a single tradition, or multiple ones.
